Existing at the intersection of art and design, these works present a unique and defined vision.

Each piece is conceived and executed from start to finish individually.

Originality excites the senses, while wood’s familiarity, warmth and allure invite calm.

Me beside a roughed out sculpture
wood-light-sculptures

Bold, weighty and sculptural, current work is inspired by wood and stone artists who favor thick, strong forms and embrace tool marks. Conveying movement, action, and intuition, the one-of-a-kind pieces begin with a concept, but are carved spontaneously. Once the wood form is roughed out, I test various approaches to the lighting.

Each piece has a unique set of problems to solve; the effects of light must transform the piece, cords and lights must either be hidden or elevated, bulbs have to be able to be changed. I love this problem-solving!

The results are often spellbinding. Rooted in the merging of bold sculpture, soft light and elegant wood, they transmit, reflect and alter light in a dynamic, abstract dialogue with the surrounding space.
